The Chinese brand BBO crystal is an excellent choice for SPDC applications, as it can be efficiently pumped within a broad wavelength range from 260 to 800nm. Specifically, it works well with diode lasers (390 - 415)nm for second harmonic generation (SHG) of Ti:Sapphire lasers. Moreover, it facilitates third harmonic generation (THG) of Nd:/Yb: lasers at (343 - 355)nm and fourth harmonic generation (FHG) of Nd:/Yb: lasers at (260 - 266)nm. Additionally, it is suitable for pumping Ti:Sapphire lasers and SHG of Er: lasers at 775nm.
When using this crystal for SPDC, you can choose between two standard crystal types: Type I or Type II. The Type I crystal offers a half-opening angle of 3° between the signal and Idler, while the Type II crystal provides a 5° half-opening angle between conjugated directions.
